Product Information
Specification

Stoner E236 Urethane Mold Release is a high-performance silicone release agent formulated for use on mandrels, tooling, and molds where urethane, composite, or liner materials are applied. When used on mandrels that will later contact motor casings or liners, E236 helps reduce sticking, tearing, and mechanical wear during demolding — improving surface finish and mandrel life.

Because mandrels used in rocket motor and propellant systems may later interface with energetic materials or require strict surface cleanliness, E236 is recommended only as a tooling release agent — and only after confirming with the motor/propellant manufacturer that a silicone-based release film is acceptable. Residual silicone oils can interfere with certain bonding, painting, or surface-sensitive processes; where downstream processes require paintable or bondable surfaces, use a product specifically designated for that workflow and perform validation testing.

Key Benefits

  • Facilitates clean release of liners, casings, and composite parts from mandrels.

  • Produces a thin, non-staining film that helps preserve mandrel surfaces.

  • Enables multiple releases per application for improved productivity.

  • Compatible with common mandrel materials (metal, fiberglass, composite) for tooling release use.

Use Cases (Tooling Only)

  • Demolding urethane liners or sleeves from mandrels.

  • Releasing composite or filament-wound tubes from mandrels.

  • Tool protection during short production runs and prototyping.

Important — Safety & Compatibility Notice

  • Do not use Stoner E236 on propellant grains, energetic materials, or any surface that will be directly incorporated into or come into prolonged contact with propellant, ignitors, or motor interiors unless expressly approved by your motor/propellant manufacturer.

  • Silicone residues can alter bonding, adhesion, or surface chemistry; they may affect paints, adhesives, or coatings applied downstream. Validate with small-scale tests and manufacturer guidance.

  • This product does not substitute for regulatory, quality-assurance, or safety procedures required for rocket motor manufacturing or propellant handling.

Directions for Tooling Use (Non-Energetic Context)

  1. Clean mandrel to remove grease, dirt, or previous coatings.

  2. Shake can thoroughly.

  3. Apply a light, even mist from 10–12 inches and allow to dry briefly before applying casting or layup materials.

  4. Reapply when release performance diminishes.
